At the Madras Christian College he obtained the BA in 1952 and then, in 1953 the MA. In 1956 he moved to the United States. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1961 at the University of Minnesota having tutor I. Richard Savage with the thesis Central Limit Theorems and Asymptotic Efficiency for One Sample Non-Parametric Procedures . From 1968 he was a fellow of the American Statistical Association . [1] He was a professor of statistics at the University of Kentucky based in Lexington . He was married in 1960 to Gayatri Gupta Govindarajulu (1936-2013), a professor of sociology at the same university. [/content] [/tab]
